Biography

Rupok (late)

Rupok was a close and cherished friend of Artcell who contributed profoundly to the band’s early success by writing four of their songs before his untimely death from cerebral malaria in 2001. His lyrical style was distinctively different from Rumman Ahmed’s—while Rumman’s lyrics were often poetic and introspective, Rupok had a unique talent for expressing deep and meaningful themes using simple, accessible language. This ability to convey profound emotions with straightforward words gave his songs a special charm and relatability, helping to shape Artcell’s identity and leaving a lasting impact on their music and fans alike. Rupok's passing deeply affected the band, leading them to dedicate their first album to his memory. The album features a tribute track titled "Rupok (Ekti Gaan)" and “Obosh Onubhutir Deyal” specifically honoring him.
